Kuala Penyu is a small town in the southwest of Sabah. The majority of the people living there are Dusun Tatana which is a unique indigenous group influenced by Chinese culture with a mixture of some traditional Dusun customs. They are the only Dusun’s who celebrate the Lunar New year festival.

Tinimbu (or Tinimbuh) Dumpling is one of their traditional food which actually looks like a Chinese dumpling but without any filling. Tinimbu is a triangular-shaped dumpling made out of glutinous rice, wrapped with pandan/ bamboo leaves, and tied with a lamba vine. They usually enjoy these during Chinese New Year dipped in coarse sugar.
