If you come across these kamikaze (suicidal) ants in Tabin Wildlife Reserve, don’t mess with them because these ants aren’t afraid of dying. The yellow pouches are literally “explosives-belts”, which the ants can burst open on purpose when defending their nest. They release a sticky and toxic substance to deter the attack. This brave ant species is Crematogaster inflata.
