Pom Pom Island is located off the Semporna coast on the east side of Sabah. To get there, you can hop on a plane to Tawau, travel about an hour by car to Semporna, and then take a 45-minute boat ride across the beautiful turquoise waters. The island is small and peaceful, with soft white sand beaches encircling the entire island.
The island is home to Pom Pom Island Resort, a peaceful retreat built close to the beach and surrounded by tall swaying coconut palms. The resort has comfortable rooms and villas with views of the sea or the island’s greenery, giving guests a relaxing place to stay after a day in the sun.
The resort features a restaurant serving a mix of Asian and Western dishes made from fresh ingredients, and a bar where guests can enjoy drinks while watching the sunset. There is a small lounge for relaxing, a games room with activities like darts and pool, and a shop selling snacks and souvenirs.

The resort works closely with a conservation centre that protects the coral reefs and cares for two types of sea turtles, the Green Turtle and the Hawksbill Turtle . Guests may notice turtle tracks on the sand, and during the nesting season, they might even watch hatchlings being safely released into the sea. Staff share information about the island’s marine life, making it easy for visitors to enjoy both the natural beauty of Pom Pom Island and the important conservation work happening around them.
Water activities are a highlight of the island experience. Snorkel over shallow reefs to see colourful fish, starfish, and other marine creatures close to shore. For deeper exploration, the resort’s PADI 5-Star Dive Centre offers guided dives at multiple sites around the island, including night dives and beginner courses. Guests can also kayak across the calm waters, take beach walks, jog along the shoreline, or play volleyball, with resort staff on hand to guide activities and provide tips about the local marine life.

Pom Pom Island offers a calm coral escape where visitors can enjoy soft sand crystal-clear waters, vibrant reefs, and a protected natural environment. It is a place to explore, relax, and experience Sabah’s marine beauty up close.
