Meet the Kayan River Slow Loris a.k.a Nycticebus kayan, named after the Kayan River which runs through its native habitat. These cute creatures are endemic to Borneo (central and northern): Indonesia (Kalimantan), and Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak).
They can be easily distinguished by the dark rings that encircle the eyes whereby each ring stretches low to the cheekbone, sometimes to the jaw. The species was originally thought to be a part of the Bornean slow loris population until 2013 due to its distinct facial markings, which helped to differentiate it.
