If you are looking for an ‘off the beaten path’ unique experience then Orou Sapulot is the place to experience. This place will take you on an epic adventure exploring mystical caves, trekking through the pristine forest, and climbing the intimidating Batu Punggul (Punggul Rock), an 800 foot limestone outcrop rising out from the banks of the Sapulot River.

Legend has it that Batu Punggul and its neighbour Batu Tinahas, were once longhouses that gradually transformed into stone over time. These sites are deemed sacred by the Murut people who traditionally inhabit this area of Sabah.

If you’re thinking of climbing Batu Punggul, you will need a tour guide, medium fitness level, and the ability to manage the fear of heights.
