Dare to try this?

Sago Grubs, known as Butod locally, is undeniably one of the more popular traditional food in Sabah. This is definitely not a dish for the squeamish but it is said to be very nutritious for your body.

What is it exactly? It is the larvae of Sago Palm Weevil, a species of snout beetle that consumes sago palm during its infancy. These grubs are able to grow fatter than your little finger and can be eaten grilled, fried, or live (yes, while it is still squirming!) depending on how brave you are.

The best place to find these grubs is in sago palm as they feed on starchy pith of decaying sago palm tree before they mature and transform into a beetle after 2 months.
