First train in the history of the island of Borneo.
Originally, The North Borneo Railway began construction back in circa 1896 to transport tobacco to the coast for export where the first line built was a 32KM track from Bukau to Beaufort and Weston. In 1903, it was further extended a 64KM line from Beaufort to Tenom, and to Melalap. In the meantime, the 90KM line from Beaufort to Jesselton was also constructed.
